A Cheerleader’s Diary: First Competition Of The Year

On Sunday, the club I cheer for, Power Cheer Academy had their first competition at the World Cup Cheer and Dance Championships. As you saw my my competition makeup post, we had quiffs and silver makeup with big eyeliner. Just thought I would share some photos. This is my first routine since winning Nationals in 2011 with my old team and my first level 3 stunt group since then too.

My Open Level 3 stunt group came second due to a nervous mishap during a toss and our 8 and Over Level 1 routine snagged first even after we couldn’t hear the music start and scrambled to get in time. I had to count the whole way through the routine to get everyone in time and call out what was next so by the time the end dance came around I was ecstatic that I could stop yelling and smile. Our other Level 1 Senior stunt group also came first. Two first places and a second for our first competition as a team is pretty great! Our Level 3 stunt group only learned our routine last week, so we are just happy that everything stayed up except for one stunt! There are always things to learn from a competition.

I also bought a WCCD crop and short set in pink and black that I’ll be putting up when I lose some of my winter weight! Check out some of my photos from the competition! Unfortunately, the videos would not upload, so hopefully I can figure them out soon so you can have a look at the routines. All that I can say was that it was fun and exhausting – exactly the way a competition should be when you put in 110%! The day also ended with a feed of McDonald’s – yet another way to end a competition right!

Makeup Play: I’m A Slave 4 U With a Twist

On Friday, my day off, I had done everything that I needed to and instead of relaxing and watching a movie, I hit YouTube to look up some great workouts. Bored with the usual tough workouts, I decided to do a fun dance one instead but I couldn’t really get through the ones I chose because they weren’t what I expected. So instead, I chose some songs with great film clips and danced along instead.

One of those songs was ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ by one of my favourite artists Britney Spears. She has a blue smokey eye, extended to her outer corners. This makeup look inspired me to create something dramatic! I was also super bored and curled my hair.I'm A Slave 4 U Makeup

I too did a blue smokey eye but did the extended outer eye a little differently – more like a masquerade mask. I also added blue under my lower lashes. I used my Napoleon Perdis Matte Bronzer on my crease before using a highlighter from my Chi Chi ‘Don’t Pimp My Style’ eyeshadow palette. This is the palette I then used for my darker colours as well. Over the highlighter, I used my Napoleon Perdis Life Aquatic Loose Powder all over the lid. I used two shades of silver from my NP Set Seattle palette. I used the lightest silver on the inner eye and mid lid and the darker silver towards the outer edges and blended well. I then drew a faint line with my crayon eyeliner to the shape I desired and started to smudge it. Then I put a shade of grey over the top and blended it really well to the blue. Over that, I used a black glitter eyeshadow. The eyeliner lines were blended in so they could not be seen and blended some more. Finally, I used my liquid liner over the top lid and below my bottom lashes. I also lined the inner corner of my eye with it and extended past the corner to add a little more to the look. I also connected the liquid liner on the outer corners and finished up with a lot of mascara and a nude lip.

I knew that my boyfriend was coming over later that night, so I wiped down the extended outer eyes and shaped it back around to something that wouldn’t frighten him.

I was going to add the jewels but I actually forgot. What do you guys think?

OOTN: Saturday Dinner

Apologies for being a tad MIA this weekend, I’ve been playing with makeup, cheering and eating way too much food.  I also apologise for my shitty photography in the dark, but at least my two gorgeous boys had a photo with me. Let’s just say that my outfit looked fabulous and leave it at that! I was super proud that I matched my new rose gold necklace to my pumps. I had the same makeup as my Saturday Work FOTD just a little more eyeliner for night time.

Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Tote

I mentioned earlier that I had finally joined the modern world and got myself my first laptop! My first laptop at 19. I know, I’m behind. I was going to get one when I started uni, but we work in computer rooms at uni anyway, so why would I bother when I have a computer at home? I am getting into my last semester and I realised after my first year that yeah, I do need one. I finally have one and yes, I am using it right now!

Of course, I needed a laptop bag. My mum insisted that I get one and we would not be leaving without one. My mum put some money into my purchase from birthday and Christmas money. I won’t get any presents from her and dad from Christmas, but that’s okay because I have something I really wanted and needed. Besides, I would’ve just asked for clothes and shoes anyway!

I needed a case that would look nice when I put it in my handbag, but none of them were nice enough, until I saw the Michael Kors one. Unfortunately, (or not really unfortunately) they didn’t have a case big enough and so I had to buy the travel tote. Oh no, poor me, now I have this super nice Michael Kors bag on my shoulder that has enough room to double as a handbag and is perfect for traveling. This bag is now attached to my side and I love it. It also comes in other awesome colours and designs, but mum wouldn’t let me have white as my other white handbag is now filthy (not from dirt, from walking in the rain and it rubbing against black jeans).

I have seen these totes around online. I got mine at the Apple Store for $350 but some places like Net-a-Porter are more expensive while the Michael Kors website is cheaper. This could also be due to currency and all prices don’t carry that much difference.

Ugh, I’m so in love with my Michael Kors, my boyfriend is getting sick of me calling it ‘my Michael Kors’ instead of ‘my laptop bag’.

FOTD: Saturday Work

Unfortunately, I’m one of those unlucky people that doesn’t really have a proper weekend because I work on Saturday and then have 6 hours of cheerleading on Sunday. I actually really like my job though, so I don’t mind my only day off of the week being on Friday. Today I knew I would have to do some outreach and promotion, so I wanted to look nice. However, time didn’t go my way – I got up at 5:30am to cook my boyfriend breakfast before he went to his 6th day of work in a row (wife me up, right?) and then had an hours nap since I didn’t sleep too well. I then had to take my car down for a service and of course the mechanics weren’t there at 8 when they said they would be, were they? Finally, at 8:30am, I was able to head back home and get ready to leave for work at about 9am (this includes shower and finding my work clothes plus having a tea).

FOTD: Saturday Work

I don’t take too long to get ready, especially for work, but I decided to do a bit of eyeshadow instead of my usual ‘natural’ face.

So here is my Saturday lazy FOTD:

I used my Napoleon Perdis Camera Finish Powder all over my face for quick coverage and then used my NP Set in Dublin. The greenish eyeshadows really accentuate my eyes, which I like, I used the lightest colour on my crease and halfway up to the brow, the middle green on the crease and lid and then the darkest shade close to my lash line, blending them all into each other. I used my Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner on my top lid and I used my Maybelline Define-A-Line crayon liner under my lower lashes. I then smudged that crayon liner a tiny bit. I used Cover Girl Lash Blast on my lashes and tried to flick them outwards, however, the wind had other plans for my look.FOTD: Saturday WorkI am also reviving the 90′s and wearing this scrunchie that I found in my hair drawer! I know, my cool factor has dropped but I love the way scrunchies make your pony tail look. If only this one was black or purple!

Please don’t mind my shitty iPhone quality and my red face – it was freezing!

YSL Poudre Compacte Radiance Matt and Radiance Pressed Powder Review

YSL Poudre Compacte RadianceYSL Poudre Compacte RadianceYSL Poudre Compacte Radiance

The YSL Poudre Compacte Radiance Matt and Radiant Pressed Powder is by far, the best powder I have ever used. I started using this powder when I was getting ready for a night out at my sister’s and had forgotten my own powder. I then took it for the night and only gave it back two weeks ago.

The YSL was the only powder that set both my foundations perfectly, with little to no touch ups. I did purchase a Napoleon Perdis Camera Finish Powder in the mean time, as I had heard such good things about it. At first, I was cynical, as I used it a couple of times and was still shiny, but that’s just my skin type. I’ve come to really like the Napoleon Perdis Camera Finish, but it’s no YSL Poudre Compacte Radiance.

In the past I had also used a Lancome powder (which was dropped and smashed by a clumsy ex-boyfriend) and a Maybelline Fit Me Powder but the YSL is a great colour fit and it isn’t even the lightest shade – which is a first. While the Napoleon Camera Finish is a little more yellow based, the YSL is more pink based, which is great for my skin and my foundation.

YSL’s powder is silky, light and completely matte. Shine doesn’t get through which is great because my skin is slightly oily and when covered it seems to seep through even more. This is a definite recommendation. You won’t regret it.

After my sister took the powder back, I purchased my own. It’s a little pricey compared to other brands at $89 in Australia, but if you’re in America, it’s under $50 (lucky!). It’s definitely worth it!

Montblanc Black & White Press Breakfast Outfit

As seen in my post on Tuesday, I was out for breakfast at the Montblanc Black & White Press breakfast. I’ll have more information about the actual event and collection in a coming post, but I thought I would share my outfit and makeup choice of the day.

Since my closet overhaul, I’ve been lacking in my wardrobe a little bit, and though I have recently purchased a couple of tops, dresses and a skirt, none of them were appropriate (or wintery enough) to wear to this black & white breakfast, so I decided to borrow something from my sister. May I mention that I rarely borrow clothes as people usually borrow clothes from me.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipsticks

The Body Shop Colour Crush LipsticksI hadn’t been into The Body Shop in quite a while, so I was super excited when I looked at their makeup range on my shopping trip last Friday. I’ve been looking for particular colour lipsticks for quite a while now and I have been disappointed by a few that I have bought. I’m very picky and I have certain colours in mind that I am determined to get.

The Body Shop colour crush lipsticks had all the colours I had been looking for. The bright coral, the dark berry, the moody red, purples, browns and bright pinks – everything! Since I’ve never tried The Body Shop before, and I didn’t want to double up on colours (even though the ones I already bought weren’t the exact ones – hey, I don’t want to waste good makeup), I purchased two colours that I didn’t yet have.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipsticks

Colour Crush 205

I am so in love with the Colour Crush 205. It is the ultimate Barbie pink; think those little classic barbie heels. I couldn’t resist! I had to get this perfect colour that my boyfriend will hate getting on him

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipsticks

Colour Crush 240

The Colour Crush 240 is the deep berry colour that I have been looking for. I didn’t want to go too deep like the MAC X Lorde Pure Heroine lipstick because I look a little gothic, but I did want a more purple than red based colour. I absolutely love this colour, it’s not too dark but it’s darker than my Nutri-Metics Vivid Violet.

I’ve tested out both colours and the lipstick is a soft and smooth cream base that stays on for quite a while, even after having a drink and some food.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipsticks

I actually did quite a haul last Friday, picking up two new dress, a playsuit, a top, these lipsticks, a doona cover and $90 worth of Bonds underwear. I also finally joined the modern world and got myself a laptop so that I don’t have to do everything from home. And of course, a Michael Kors laptop bag to go with it. I’m also waiting for my last top to come today from my online shopping buys and then I will post some more pictures and new outfits! Super exciting uni holidays for me!

What do you guys think of these colours?
